JIYOUNG TAKES HER FIRST-EVER FLIGHT TO TAIPEI TO ATTEND HER OLD FRIEND MIYOUNG'S WEDDING, ONLY TO FIND IT NEVER HAPPENS. WANDERING THE UNFAMILIAR CITY AT NIGHT,
SHE DRIFTS THROUGH THE STREETS WITH A HOLLOW HEART.

S Y N O P S I S

Ji-young has long carried both gratitude and guilt toward her middle school friend, Mi-young, who still often appears in her dreams-always as the girl she once knew.

Years later, by chance, they reunite as adults, and Mi-young tells her she is getting married in Taipei.

Though Ji-young has never traveled abroad or even been on a plane, she is determined to attend the wedding to finally express her unspoken feelings.

Arriving in the unfamiliar city where she cannot even read the signs, she makes her way to the venue-only to discover that the ceremony has been canceled. A staff member suggests it may have been postponed due to the Ghost Festival, considered an unlucky time for weddings.

Unable to see Mi-young, Ji-young wanders through the bustling Taipei night, adrift yet compelled by the hope of finding her friend.

After the festival edns, Jiyoung realized how to deal with her past guilt. She learns a new way of dealing with meetings and partings and how to say a proper farewell.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

-Friendship as a Bridge to Life : "I wanted to show how a rekindled friendship can empower those who reunite after years to take a brave new step forward in life."

-Diaspora Narrative : “Through the character of Miyoung, I explore the 'Diaspora'—the story of Chinese-Koreans who long for a place to settle but are destined to wander."

BEHIND THE TITLE

The working title "Bye-Bye" is a homonym playing on both the English farewell and the Chinese term "拜拜"(Bàibài), which refers to the ritual of prayer and seeking blessings.

Since the theater scenes occupy a significant portion, we cast actors who are currently active in theater and film industry.
